? Blocks appear on the Mushroom Kingdom stage in Super Smash Bros. Melee, and act as platforms. When attacked or jumped into, they are destroyed and will produce an item. After being destroyed, they will eventually respawn as either brick blocks or more ? Blocks.

These blocks also appear on the Mushroomy Kingdom stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and produce the same effect, although they are indestructible. There are also some item blocks disguised as brick blocks.

? Blocks first appeared in the NES hit, Super Mario Bros. When Mario jumped underneath one, something would pop out. The objects that come out are, mushrooms, starmen, coins and many other things.
