Bucket Braking
From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Bucket Braking refers to a technique specific to Mr. Game and Watch in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Bucket Braking uses the momentum canceling power of Oil Panic to help Mr. Game and Watch survive knockback that would normally K.O him, which is especially useful considering Game and Watch is Brawl's second lightest character. Similar techniques work with Donkey Kong's Spinning Kong and Yoshi's Egg Roll, which also completely stop momentum (though unlike Mr. Game & Watch, these techniques put the character in a helpless state).
Bucket Braking doesn't work if the bucket is full.
[edit] How to perform
To Bucket Brake, one must DI after being hit. Afterward, one must use a Momentum Canceling move, such as an attack (Game and Watch's Neutral Aerial is recommended as it has the shortest animation). However, instead of jumping after Momentum Canceling, one uses their down-special, Oil Panic. This will completely halt Mr. Game and Watch in midair (gravity will quickly resume).
Bucket Braking will not work if Game and Watch has a full bucket; using Oil Panic will simply throw the oil and Game and Watch will continue to fly to his death.
A great aspect of Bucket Braking is that Game and Watch can still attack or recover after performing the Bucket Brake. It's best when knocked from farther distances, so to increase effectiveness of it, it's suggested to Directional Influence, then use neutral air, then take out his bucket.
This technique can also be applied to Yoshi or Donkey Kong by replacing Oil Panic with Yoshi's neutral-special, Egg Roll, or Donkey Kong's up-special, Spinning Kong. However, this technique is less effective with these characters, as Donkey Kong will simply fall helpless afterward, and Yoshi will simply fall straight down until the player ends the Egg Roll move (which also makes Yoshi fall helpless).
