Event 51: The Showdown is the final event match in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

This Event Match is a 3 vs 1, three stock match against Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo. It takes place on Final Destination, which is unlocked after clearing this. There's also a handicap in this Event and it's on Giga Bowser, who can now die at 54%-199% damage rather than being killed at over 200%-420% damage in Adventure Mode.
UnlockablesEdit
After beating this event, Final Destination is unlocked as a playable VS. mode stage. A special message is awarded if the the event is cleared without losing a life, saying, "You cleared Event 51, The Showdown, with no falls!' Also, the player is rewarded with the Final Destination trophy.
TriviaEdit
- The three characters fought in this match have at least one attack that wields darkness, possibly representing evil.
- All three characters are villains from highly represented franchises: Giga Bowser from the Mario franchise, Ganondorf from the Zelda franchise, and Mewtwo from the Pokémon franchise, though it is debatable if Mewtwo is a villain or not.
- The final Event Match in Super Smash Bros. Brawl is very similar to this event match, with Giant Mario representing Giga Bowser and Sonic and Snake representing Mewtwo and Ganondorf. The event match is also fought on the Final Destination stage.
- When Chansey is released from a Poké Ball, only the eggs with battle items or explosive ones will be thrown to the stage, not healing ones, since no healing items appear at all.
