Hong Kong Disco (born February 3, 1997) is a Canadian smasher from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. As a member of Teh Fair and The EHsians, Hong Kong Disco gained notoriety as one of the youngest competitive smashers in Canada.

[edit] Background

Hong Kong Disco and his fellow crew mate and older brother Victra were dedicated Super Smash Bros. 64 players in their earlier days, but it wasn't until Super Smash Bros. Melee's release on the Gamecube that the two literally became infatuated with the game. Hong Kong Disco , though playing SSBM for two years after the purchase, didn't have a single clue about the game's competitive scene until late 2005 after his older brother Victra read a large article about the game in issue 195 of Nintendo Power, "Smash Planet". The article included such topics as SWF, Ken Hoang, MLG, rumors about a new installment of SSB, as well as a brief description of wavedashing.

A year after discovering the competitive scene, Hong Kong Disco's brother decided to host a Smash tournament in their city Red Deer in order to find more competition in their area. R.L.Prodigy, though fairly weak as a smasher, showed potential at the tournament after beating several Red Deer smashers with his Fox, he was titled a "Prodigy" by the other participants, thus the alias "R.L.Prodigy." R.L.Prodigy was then recruited into Teh Fair shortly after. As of 2009 however, R.L Prodigy changed his alias to Hong Kong Disco.

[edit] Tournament Activity

Hong Kong Disco has attended several tournaments stretching across the west coast of Canada and the United States. During the fall of 2006 and early 2007, Hong Kong Disco attended the various CAST events, proving to be a smasher with limitless potential. During the Summer of 2007, Hong Kong Disco traveled to Seattle, Washington for family reasons along with his brother Victra. Taking advantage of his stay, Hong Kong Disco and his brother attended various tournaments such as Seattle Smash events and the infamous Game Clucks, playing against several well known players such as Ka Master and Silent Wolf. During his time there, Hong Kong Disco teamed along with Washington's Ademisk for various doubles tournaments and events.

In the winter of 2007, Hong Kong Disco attended At Melee's End where he made a strong statement as a competitive player, defeating several players and placing as one of the top in his pool. Not only did he do strong in singles, Hong Kong Disco and his partner 5950 placed a respectable 13th in doubles. Along with the Melee event, Hong Kong Disco participated in the original Smash tournament, placing fifth, losing only to SuperBoomFan and ManLi.
