Koopa Paratroopas (Japanese name: パタパタ Patapata) are found in in the Mushroom Kingdom stage of Super Smash Bros. Melee's Adventure mode, as well as in Crates and Barrels. Jump on them or attack them in midair to turn them into regular Koopa Troopas.
Every time you KO a Koopa Paratroopa by grabbing it and throwing it, you get some points added to your Koopa Paratroopa KO bonus.
Koopa Paratroopas can also be found in the Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In this game, they can attack. If a player comes near them, they will headbutt him/her downwards. If attacked or stomped, they lose their wings and fall (provided the attack caused them to Flinch), acting from that point on no different than a regular Koopa Troopa. Their health bar, however, will still read "Paratroopa". Koopa Paratroopas appear in both green and red.
Red Paratroopas are known to fly to their targets, and strike when they get close. Red Koopas (without wings) just follow their target on foot, though they're slow and easy to escape from.After a while,if not destroyed they can grow back wings.An example of this is to go to the swamp as Pit and when you see the Paratroopas by the stairs,shoot one with an arrow,walk away,return and they should be back with the same damage.
