The Nowhere Islands is a setting in the EarthBound universe, specifically Mother 3. Early in the game, the main protagonist Lucas lives there with his family in Tazmily Village (Japanese name is pronounced Tazumarii Village). One of the largest arenas in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, New Pork City, is set there. There was also supposed to be a New Pork Island located near Nowhere Island in an early version of the game. Instead, it became New Pork City, which is located in a mountainous region. Late in the game, it is explained to Lucas's party that a long time ago, humans had destroyed the world; those who survived came in a White Ship to the Nowhere Islands and erased their memories (keeping them stored in a Hummingbird Egg) to prevent what happened to the world once from happening again. The only reason the islands survived was because a creature called the Dark Dragon sleeps under the island, kept unconscious by seven needles, that protected the Nowhere Islands.
