Orly is an Asian-American competitive smasher with a great interest for the Metroid series. His character of choice is Samus due to his loyalty to the Metroid series. In addition to the Metroid franchise, Orly also looks up to Phanna, often referring to him as "his god". Along with Phanna, Orly's best friend and fellow crew mate, Deff, is also one of his biggest inspirations. Deff is responsible for teaching him the fundamental advanced techniques of melee. From that point, Orly grew a more competitive and positive mindset towards melee, thus making it his favorite game.

[edit] History

Orly first stumbled into Smash Bros at a young age at his friend's house. He played casually and eventually moved on to melee when it came out. Melee introduced Orly to many friends however, none of them played competitively. Later on, Orly meets Deff and was struck by the idea of competitive smash. The new experience revolutionizes Orly's idea of melee, allowing him to play from melee's birth (2001) to brawl's release (2008). During these seven years, Orly faces many challenges. One of the biggest challenges that he faced was when Deff had to move to PA. His best opponent now lives over 2 hours away by car.
Despite the distance that Orly lived from Deff, Orly was still able to visit Deff every now and then. For these moments, Orly would practice hard in melee and "lurk moar" at smashboards. Orly was short on smash players to practice against. He acquires most of his skill from battling cpus and studying mindgames/techniques he would find on smashboards and youtube. Despite his lack of real opponents, Orly manages to hold his own against Deff and his friends in PA.

[edit] Trivia

  • Orly has a deep hatred for Marth because he believes he's the most broken character. Orly often refers to Marth as, "gay".
  • Orly used to use Marth, but stopped after realizing how broken he is.
  • Orly used Link in melee for awhile, but changed his main back to Samus after learning advanced techniques.
  • Orly plays competitive Pokémon in addition to competitive Smash and Metroid.
  • The origin of Orly's name came from a match where one of his friends commented, "You'll never make it back to the stage! There's no way!". At that point, Orly shouted, "Oh REALLY?!", and managed to bomb jump and grapple the very bottom of Final Destination. The grapple beam looked like it wasn't even connected to the stage. Orly proceeded to defeat his opponent and gained bragging rights for the match and the comment.
