Peppy Hare (ペッピー・ヘア Peppī Hea) was a member of the original Star Fox team, with leader James McCloud and wingmate Pigma Dengar. After Pigma's betrayal and James's capture, Peppy narrowly escaped to return to Corneria to inform Fox McCloud of his father's fate. Ever since then, Peppy has become a father figure to Fox, serving as his mentor and frequently giving Fox instructions and advice throughout the course of the game, such as doing a "barrel-roll".
Before the events of Star Fox 64, Peppy and his wife Vivian had their daughter Lucy, who later became a teacher on the planet Fichina. When Peppy flew for the Star Fox team, Lucy was left in care of Vivian on Corneria. Not long after the defeat of Andross, Vivian succumbed to illness, leaving Peppy the widowed father to Lucy.
[edit] Peppy Hare in the Super Smash Brothers series
Peppy makes an appearance in the Corneria stage of Adventure Mode. After the player defeats Fox for the first time, the player can view a conversation between Peppy and his crew. Also, a secret taunt that only Fox and Falco Lombardi can do on Star Fox stages features dialog between members of Star Fox, including Slippy Toad, Peppy, and Fox/Falco (depending on which fighter initiated the taunt). Peppy also appears as a collectable trophy in Melee and Brawl. He is one of nine Star Fox trophies in Brawl
[edit] Trophy description
Trophy #196 Peppy was a member of the original Star Fox team with Fox's father James McCloud. Peppy was the sole survivor of the Battle of Venom where a treacherous teammate named Pigma Dengar betrayed the team. Peppy now rarely climbs into the cockpit of an Arwing, preferring instead an advisory position in mission planning.

Brawl's description A member of the original Star Fox team. Peppy Hare was an esteemed pilot, now retired and currently commanding the Star Fox team from the mother ship, the Great Fox. Although he's known for a propensity for nagging, the praise and trust his team gives him hasn't changed throughout the years.
