Pidgey is a species of Pokémon. It makes a minor cameo in Super Smash Bros., sometimes flying in the background of Saffron City.

A Normal / Flying type, Pidgey is a "Tiny Bird Pokémon". It's design is that of a pigeon; its name a combination of "pigeon" and "pudgy". It's Japanese name (Poppo [ポッポ]) refers to the Japanese interpretation of the sound a pigeon makes ("pop-pop-po").
The Pokédex provides further information on the bird: It is a common sight in forests and woods. It hides in small grass foraging for food such as small bugs, flushing them out into the open by flapping its wings to stir up a dust cloud. It has an extremely sharp sense of direction, capable of unerringly returning home to its nest, however far it may be removed from its familiar surroundings. It is very docile and does not like to fight, and if attacked, it will often kick up sand to protect itself rather than striking back, or blow them away with a whipped-up whirlwind if the enemy is particularly small. It will only ferociously strike back once in a while if particularly disturbed.
