Planet Tallon IV is the main setting of Nintendo's first FPS Metroid game, Metroid Prime. While it used to be inhabited by the Chozo race, they left due to overappearance of mosters infected by Phazon and their own kind also being corrupted by the substance, after the Phazon Meteor landed on the planet. Throughout the game, Samus must explore the ruins of the deceptively ancient-looking civilization and uncover the reason that the Chozo disappeared. Space Pirates have installed research laboratories and a mining facility among these ruins, intending to use the native mutagen Phazon to enhance their forces. During the beginning tutorial part of the game, Samus explores their scientific research vessel Frigate Orpheon, which is in high orbit above the planet surface, but destroying the Parasite Queen causes the nuclear reactor it thrives in to self-destruct and the space station plummets to the planet below. The frigate appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The giant creature in the background is the Parasite Queen, the frigate's boss.
[edit] Trivia
- While, in the original game, the lights do flicker and turn off periodically, the area does not flip over, as it does in the respective stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
