RCT is a series of tournaments organized by Lawrencelot, and stands for Random Character Tournament. It is hosted in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Besides a normal Melee tournament, the special event consists of a tournament where players are not allowed to choose a character, but use random characters (to use a random character in melee, choose one of the empty spaces besides Roy and Pichu in the character selection screen). This is what makes this tournament different from other tournaments. Not being able to use the character of your choice means you have to be good with all characters, if you want to stand a chance against other players. The results have showed that the better players still win, but good players who are used to only high-tier characters get defeated by all-round good players, while they could beat them in a normal tournament.

RCT1 found place on October 27-28, 2007, it was a two-day tournament. The events were, in this order: Random Singles, Random Doubles (teampartners were not random), Normal Doubles, Normal Singles. About 20 people showed up.

to be edited laterRCT2 took place on February 16-17 2008, and was similar to RCT1 aside from the fact that random singles+doubles did not take place because of a too small amount of players. There was also a small Brawl tournament (Japanese version), one of the first in Europe. There were about 16 contestants the second day.
