Rouge the Bat (ルージュ・ザ・バット, Rūju za Batto) is a character from the Sonic the Hedgehog series who is an obsessed treasure hunter and plans to make all the gems in the world hers. She debuted in Sonic Adventure 2 in 2001, and appeared in many games that follow. In Sonic Adventure 2, Rouge draws parallel to Knuckles, in which she trys to seek out the pieces of the Master Emerald, and also in this, she quarrels with Knuckles throughout the game. After a battle between Rouge and Knuckles, Rouge almost falls into a lava-like substance when Knuckles saves her from her doom. Rouge then continues her search for the Emerald pieces, and at the very end of Sonic Adventure 2, she is seen cheering on Sonic and Shadow in the very last battle with the Biolizard. Rouge is characterized as a person who is obsessed with jewels, and is very careless, but schemes and manipulates all the time. Rouge often attacks in the Sonic series with kicks, like her signature Screw kick.
