#086

Seel (パウワウ, Pauwau, Pawou in Japanese language versions) is a fictional creature in the Pokémon media franchise.

[edit] Creature Description

Seel is a moderately large white pinniped with a horn on its head. As stated in the in-game Pokédex, it lives on icebergs, loving the freezing cold conditions, and relishes swimming in a frigid climate of around 14 degrees Fahrenheit. With its insulating fur it can plow through ice floes even in water -40 degrees Fahrenheit, and it keeps its nostrils closed while it swims. It can't walk well on land, but it is a graceful swimmer. In the daytime, it is often found asleep, on the seabed in shallow waters. It hunts for prey in the frigid sea underneath sheets of ice, and when it needs to breathe it punches a hole through the ice above with its sharply protruding, very hard horn.

It evolves into the more elegant Dewgong.

[edit] In Super Smash Bros. Melee

Seel makes one minor appearance in this game.

[edit] As a stage element

A giant balloon of Seel (in actuality the 3D model of Seel used in Pokémon Stadium for Nintendo 64) is one of the many floating and bending "platforms" that comprise the Poké Floats stage.
