Background
Edit
After hosting a doubles tournament as a fundraiser at the University of Lethbridge that featured an unprecedented 50+ participants, LeeSharpe recognized a local interest in SSBM competitions around town. Shortly thereafter, a second tournament featuring both singles and doubles was held in late March of 2007. The event (titled ROUND TWO) brought several players in from Calgary as well as solidifed a media sponsorship for the Lethbridge smash community based on LeeSharpe's connections to the local gaming scene.
ROUND TWO was merely a precursor to a larger LAN gaming event known as LANsWARm which would occur over a five-day period in the following month. BigCat Productions, the producers of LANsWARm, officially sponsored L.A.SMASH for the event and awarded prizes to the participating players, effectively paving the way for future weekly meets planned in Lethbridge.
