Sprucetengu (A.K.A. "Immortal", "Dr. Rape," "Chantelle") is an amateur-pro-level smasher hailing from Eastern Massachusetts. Known under the alias "Dr. Rape" by most members of his crew Team Oxygen Destroyer, and called "Chantelle" by teammate Gorn3kk for reasons unknown.

Known for his "heavy pressure" playstyle and a penchant for throwing combos together with a randomized, almost awkward timing, he's more of an unorthodox player than more mainstream competitors at his level. His odd style with Dr. Mario involves a more sparing use of the Megavitamin, which he tends to use more to intercept and befuddle his opponents to start one of his more devastating combos, rather than to rack up the opponents damage. He seems to make up for this comparative lightness in projectiles with surprisingly progressive combos which, once started, are difficult to stop. He is also noted to have particularly misleading timing with Dr. Mario's Fair and Bair, often intentionally slowing his rhythm to throw opponents off guard and make use of his superior accuracy. As of late, teammates have observed a developing penchant for the "SHBAWD" technique, with which he has capitalized heavily on edge-recovery interruptions. Sprucetengu is still a notoriously inconsistent player, reputed for his tendency to fluctuate violently in skill level even within a single match. Though this has its disadvantages, Sprucetengu's inconsistency often results in moments of unusual intensity which tend to turn the match to his favor. This "smash chi" (a term coined by Raiou) is probably his most notable idiosyncrasy as a player: after recieving a sheer pummelling and being doubtlessly outclassed by an opponent, he might next unleash a series of unstoppable, flawlessly-timed combos which turn the tide of the match entirely. Lastly, many players in his crew credit Sprucetengu with a curious combination of luck and unpredictable skill at recovery, even with a character as recovery-poor as Dr. Mario. After a few months of such repeated feats, Sprucetengu received the nickname "Immortal".

Sprucetengu only very recently entered the world of competitive smash play, making his Debut in the Connecticut College Gaming Club's Mega Screen Tournament on April 13th, 2007, in which he and partner Gorn3kk (of the Gel Criminals) ranked 1st in team battles. One of the founders of the Intramural Smash League of Connecticut college, Sprucetengu is also co-captain of the ISL's official crew Team Oxygen Destroyer along with the league champion Raiou. As a side project from Team Oxygen Destroyer, Sprucetengu started the two-person crew "The Gel Criminals" with Gorn3kk, already reputed as a powerful doubles team. On rarer occasions, Sprucetengu is known to play alongside FreaknRican in the doubles team notorious as "Dr. Rape and Mr. Sausage". Teamed with co-captain Raiou of Team Oxygen Destroyer, Sprucetengu placed 13th in teams among 21 pro and top pro teams at VII.E.S.T.I.C.L.E. on Sept. 1, 2007, after their second-round defeat at the hands of PC Chris and Milktea.

Sprucetengu is a relatively high-strung player, known for both his daunting energy and inability to stay quiet during a match. Always friendly, its nonetheless occasionally suspected that he's mentally insane, given the magnitude of his antics. Along with FreaknRican, Sprucetengu is one of the two "madmen" of the Intramural Smash League.
