From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki

SmashWiki was created to help create an encyclopedia of content relating to the Super Smash Bros. series. One of the key aspects of SmashWiki, however, is that not only does it cover the games themselves, but it includes information on the vibrant community that has come about as a result of the games.

The need exists, however, to define the bounds of what content is appropriate for SmashWiki. These bounds may be considered a sort of "notability criteria," but for our purposes will be defined as the scope of SmashWiki. This scope is based on the goals of our project.

The following are defined to be within the scope of SmashWiki:

  • All characters, stages, items, modes, and related information (e.g. attacks, events, etc.) appearing in any Smash Bros. game, including their function(s) in each game, as well as the origins of such topics within the context of their originating series ("universe")
  • Any techniques or strategies deemed to be of value to the Smash Bros. community
  • Information relating directly to the Smash Bros. games and their development, promotion, and release, as well as the response of the community itself and development of competitive play
  • Information about tournaments that have drawn significant attention within the community, including those on a national-scale
  • Information about crews and individual players who have drawn significant attention within the community

The above list should not be taken as a complete list of all that which is worthy of inclusion; however, those seeking to make adjustments to the list should first attempt to gain support for such changes on this talk page. Ultimately, those topics which would prove beneficial or desirable to a significant portion of the community should be candidates for inclusion. Unconfirmed material such as characters, stages, etc. or any other speculation that are not sourced are strongly discouraged and are considered not notable.
