Ok, you know what's really annoying? When you read the talk pages of an article and you see somebody saying something like: "Oh, that shouldn't be like this. It should say blahblahblah...". Seriously guys, complaining on the talk page isn't gonna get it done. If you can edit a talk page, you can edit an article. If you're gonna complain and you want something in the article removed/rewritten, DO IT YOURSELF. I can understand if an article's lacking information and you don't know what else needs to be added, but otherwise, No Johns.
Hey, wassup, I'm Shade. Been a smasher since I was, like, seven, but didn't know about competition till I joined this site. Came here to get better at Brawl since it had Wifi and I would finally have more opponents than my little brother, but I stuck around to help out with the site when I feel like it and occasionally help random people to become less of a scrub. It's a sad but true fact that this site is unfortunately a scrub magnet.
I live in southern Alabama, pretty much excluded from all aspects of competitive Smash. In fact, no other competitive smashers even EXIST within a 30-mile radius. The only other person in that range is this guy. Luckily, I've found some casual Melee players and I'm gonna use that to start up the tourney scene.
So yeah, here's how I make my mark on the Smash community. I am a:
- Scrub Coach, meaning I help people stop being scrubs
- Texture Hack collecter
- Smashwiki editor (primarily grammar as well as hacking articles)
- Tournament host in real-life for Melee
- Competitive Melee player
So obviously, I have a Smasher page, which can be read in that first blue link at the top of the page.

[edit] Brawl vs Melee
I've always loved Melee, and when Brawl came out, I loved it too. We all did...but one by one, more and more people went back to Melee and stopped playing Brawl for their own reasons. For me, it was a combination of boredom with Brawl, a strong desire to become better at Melee after becoming addicted to West Coast tourney matches (NorCal vs SoCal is awesome), and having a better shot at making a local Melee tourney scene than a Brawl one. Not only that, but even if my opponents aren't as challenging as Wifi opponents were (I'm easily the best Melee player in the city so far, and I doubt it'll change), it's much more fun, and victories are that much more satisfying in Melee, even if they're easier to come by.
So honestly, Melee >>> Brawl+ >>>>>>>>>>> Brawl. SSB64 isn't in that statement because it's been too long since I played it. I'm certain it still beats Brawl though. :/
[edit] Hacking
I took the opportunity a while back to dabble in a little hacking. I've gotten Brawl+ as well as textures. Unfortunately, due to too much free time and a short attention span, I've moved on to something else.
Brawl+ is truly amazing, and I highly recommend it, as does every Smashwikidian here who actually tried it. Even though I've stopped playing it to become better at Melee, I hope the project becomes a huge success in the future.

[edit] About Me
The name "Shade" came from the first character I ever designed. 487 is just some random number I kinda like, and the z was put at the end because this site wouldn't let me register as just "Shade487". Ever since then, the z has kinda stuck.
General interests of mine: Gaming (obviously, that should be a given for anybody on Smashwiki), drawing, making jokes, tourney hosting, and other shtuff like that.
Uh...I actually have like the REAL bipolarity shizz...so sometimes I'm just flat out silly and other times I tend to be rather somber and sophisticated. Little-known fact about that stuff: There's always a trigger. People think that you just flip at random, but no. Something always causes it, usually something stressful.
I can and WILL do anything to make the joke.
People think I honestly believe I'm always right. I'm not. However, when I know I'm right, you'd best believe I'm gonna defend my case until you can logically trounce me with overwhelming evidence that you're right and I'm wrong. Logic > insults.
I'd much rather you contact me on one of the places listed at the top of this page, as I hardly come here except for when I'm bored during school.
[edit] Papercut
I started this crew with JtM, having only one goal: To be a better crew than the Aftermath Dynasty.
It wasn't hard. We found out how to remove our scrub mentality, we hosted tons of tournaments, we researched and improved our playstyle dramatically, we increased our knowledge of the game beyond what we were capable of implementing into our playstyle at the time, we did everything we originally hoped to accomplish and more.
The time has come to move on though. MJ and I have gone to other games (I still play Smash, he's moved on to PS3 games) and we're trying to start up a Smash scene in our area. JtM wants to focus more on the Washington scene. Deity, unfortunately, is very inactive due to complications in his life, and Zandra is becoming more and more involved in the local Texas scene. Like I always say, "**** happens".
But hey, we did what we set out to accomplish in the beginning and did it well, so I'm not complaining. I couldn't have asked for a better crew.
WindWakerDeity made this vid for me and I must say it is indeed the best vid on the entire internet:
That weird face is my logo. He kinda didn't do it EXACTLY right...but you can't complain I guess. It looks somewhat less creepy if done exactly right.
[edit] Other interests of mine
I love texture hacks. They're awesome. I don't necessarily have the equipment to do my own though. This is by far the team with the most hacks as well as some of the best:
From there you can find links to all of the others too.
I also enjoy drawing (I design my own characters, including Shade) and I play baritone in my high school band.
Music's a big part of my life. If nothing else catches my interest, I'll probably end up making a career out of it.
