[edit] GameCube Controller Cleaning Tips
If your GameCube Controller stops working correctly, here are a couple of reasons/solutions that may help it work again.
[edit] Reasons Why The GameCube Controller is Malfuncioning
- The controller isn't inserted into the socket of the machine correctly.
- Debris is either in the socket or control stick, buttons, etc.
- The controller was inserted into the GameCube when the console was turned on.
NOTE: The way to address most problems is to press the X, Y, and Start buttons on the GameCube Controller simultaneously while the controller is fully inserted into the console. Under normal conditions, the controller should start working correctly.
[edit] Solutions to fix the GameCube Controller
- Press the X, Y, and Start at the simultaneously, while the controller is inserted into the machine. Under normal conditions, the controller should start working correctly.
- Unplug the controller, take a soft cotton swab and submerge the cotton end in 50% Isopropyl Alcohol. Afterwards, gently swab around the buttons, socket, and/or area(s) that need cleaning; if needed, take a toothpick, and attempt to gently clean the ends and openings where the buttons are stuck. DO NOT FORCE TOOTHPICK INTO OPENINGS. This should remove dirt, dust, etc. NEVER POUR ANY SUBSTANCE DIRECTLY ON YOUR GAMECUBE CONTROLLER
- Take a damp toothbrush, and very gently brush around the ends and the openings of buttons that are "stuck". Allow to dry for 3 hours before using the controller. DO NOT SUBMERGE THE CONTROLLER IN WATER.
