This is my talk page. You can use it to leave me messages.

Please observe these guidelines when leaving me messages:
  • Leave a new message by clicking "new section" next to "edit this page" at the top of this page. Please give your thread a subject, or be sure to use a ==Header== at the top of your post.
  • If you just need to get the attention of a sysop in general, try the Administrators' noticeboard instead. If you need the attention of a bureaucrat, try this page.
  • When replying, please respect threading guidelines and indent your messages appropriately with colons (:). Please keep threads on this page on-topic and to the point; if you're not a part of a conversation, consider starting a new thread rather than inserting yourself into it.
  • Please sign your messages by placing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message.
  • Please check back after you leave your message. I will leave my response on this page. You can respond to me in the same thread. (If I have left a message on your talk page, and you are responding to it, please respond to me there rather than creating a new thread here.)

Thank you!

[edit] Stage Selection Screenshot

Hey KK! If you don't mind, I was going to upload a picture of the stage selection thing i have that is crystal clear and super sharp. I'll replace the one you just uploaded with my own in a week when I get home. Oddeven2002 04:10, July 26, 2006 (GMT)

Sounds good by me. Go for it. --Kirby King 04:11, July 26, 2006 (GMT)

[edit] Can you add wikipedia to the interwiki database table?

See this page for info how. It would be nice to have interwiki links to WP :). --nealdt 03:15, July 30, 2006 (GMT)

Would you prefer wp: or Wikipedia: as a prefix? --Kirby King 03:25, July 30, 2006 (GMT)
Wikipedia: is the standard from what I've seen. --nealdt 03:27, July 30, 2006 (GMT)

[edit] User:MCDONALDS-FVCKIN-SUX

This user has editted and created user pages with insulting info and started vandalizing other pages. See Mew2King and Manacloud and Ken Hoang and Marth histories.--Simna ibn Sind 11:07, August 6, 2006 (GMT)

I think we have an excellent candidate for our first ban. And this is one example of what's going to happen to user pages if we don't curb who gets them. --nealdt 17:04, August 6, 2006 (GMT)
He's been blocked. --Kirby King 18:54, August 6, 2006 (GMT)

[edit] User:Stripesorbars

I'm reporting this guy for vandalism. Minor so far but he might do more. Check out his changes to the Professionals page. --Simna ibn Sind 23:48, October 11, 2006 (GMT)

[edit] Editing

Superryan has edited my page twice saying that I got 4 stocked by DA Dav3 during FC6 and MLG Orlando, I don't know why he has edited my page because I usually talk to him with my thread for helping Falco players over Smashboards.com in the character specific. And I'm not sure, but I saw my name under the Falco Pros for America, and sometime after I posted this website showing me on it someone had deleted my name from it, and I know Superryan saw me on there because he said "interesting" on my thread after he had saw it.

[edit] Hey Kirby King

You might have heard wind of the idea to give more people admin-ship on SmashWiki. In particular, it would be useful for the most active editors to be able to delete topics and edit the MediaWiki namespace and such. Just thought I'd leave a message here. --MaskedMarth 15:08, December 22, 2006 (GMT)

We'll be adding new sysops before we officially go public. --Kirby King 17:07, January 7, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] Deleting a page

On the Super Smash Bros. page there was a broken link for Board the Platforms which led me to create one although one already existed. The original page is Board the Platforms and the page I created is Board The Platforms.ShoeThief 22:40, January 21, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] Please fix Wikia interwiki link

The Wikia interwikilink is www.wikia.com/wiki/index.php/$1, which makes the link broken. To fix it, remove index.php/ in the URL. Does it work? Wikia:Wikia AltAcnt ( TalkContsEmail ) 20:56, January 23, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] Note to self

[edit] Stop these people!

my page, CYBR, is being re-edited. could ban these people? Toxn Cure Bias. thnx

Ok, cybr a few things:

1. Is this really you? I'm not sure if this, because I dont know all 4 of your account names.

2. If you really care why did you leave out F8AL and Tron? F8AL was even the most recent one but you weren't going to report him because hes your freind? You really think if the mods were to ban me,cure, and bias they wouldn't check to see and then see the other two who did it to your page?

3. Last thing. You dont play smash anymore, Why do you care about what it says? Why are you trying to burn bridges as your quiting. Thats a really prickish thing to do.

ToXn 22:37, May 1, 2007 (GMT)

Please read Talk:Cybr for my comments, and please refrain from littering my talk page. ToXn, if you have something to add, you can talk to Cybr about it on his talk page, or you can talk to me about it with a new thread on my talk page. You may not, however, try to hijack someone else's conversation. --Kirby King 22:41, May 1, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] Logo

I made the article Super Smash Boys at [www.smashwiki.com]. I wanted other crews to get information about the existing of my crew that we can organisate wars or other things. Some memebers designed a logo. I uploaded it on this page, too, to take it into my article, but it was deleted and i should read the Smash Wiki policy. Why musnt i show our logo at my article?

Tham 19:03, May 18, 2007 (GMT)

Have you read the image policy yet? AltAcnt ( TalkContsEmail ) 14:11, May 29, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] I noticed...

...there are few sysops on this Wiki compared to the number of articles. What would I have to do to maybe get to wield the broom? I have a huge amount of experience with wiki's, as I've been on Wikipedia for over a year, with well over a thousand contributions. Incase it's a question of like, seniority on SWF, I am a premium member... Maybe? GofG 00:40, May 29, 2007 (GMT)

The latest sysops were chosen from some months ago, and I think there are some more months until more are chosen (maybe) AltAcnt ( TalkContsEmail ) 14:11, May 29, 2007 (GMT)
They really should be chosen by demand and not by regular intervals according to policy. -- Randall00 Talk 17:46, May 29, 2007 (GMT)
Agreed. AltAcnt ( TalkContsEmail ) 19:43, May 29, 2007 (GMT)

[edit] watch this new guy

the user under the name Frogy278 has been adding nothing but vandalism[1]. can you keep an eye on him to see if blocking is needed? FyreNWater 19:41, August 14, 2007 (EDT)

i think this may be the same guy. all vandalism.[2]] FyreNWater 17:21, September 12, 2007 (EDT)

[edit] SiegK

SiegK needs to be banned. he keeps uploading the same page of sprite comics, despite it already being deleted three times. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 01:39, September 28, 2007 (EDT)

it's been deleted and re-uploaded FIVE times. he needs to be banned now. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 02:55, October 1, 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Pyroloserkid

that user has repeatedly vandalized[3] Sariku.uchiha's page and hasn't made any positive edits. i believe he deserves to be banned. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 02:07, October 6, 2007 (EDT)

[edit] more people to ban and a question

[4]

User:Chaddd and User:JUST A PIECE OF MEAT!! have definitely vandalized too many times (in just that one article) and deserve a ban. i can't tell whether or not User:Ganon543 or User:Col Bol are vandalizing or not. that page is just a huge mess.

on a side note, how does one apply to become a sysop? i'm always helping around the site, putting up bad pages to be deleted/improved, and catching ban-able users, anyway. FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 21:00, October 9, 2007 (EDT)

User:Zinnamon will need a warning to stop these irrelevant pages and senseless edits. perhaps nto a ban just yet. he's trying, but he's like a clumsy puppy, breaking stuff on accident. i think more sysops would be a really helpful right now. *hint* FyreNWater - (TalkContributions ) 05:40, October 14, 2007 (EDT)

[edit] Zobadah and Blasphemy

Hey, you know the user you have just blocked, there is other user who have being the same edits about ridley beig in brawl the user is Blasphemy what we should do?--Fandangox 17:36, November 19, 2007 (EST)

[edit] about the wiki license stuff

Hello, I noticed that in SmashWiki, editors may not copy-and-paste text from any Wikia-based wiki article like Wikipedia. What I would like know is this, is the opposite true? Can those who use a wikia license not copy-and-paste our information on SmashWiki without permission? I found an article on Smash Wikia that is exactly like ours. [5], the article about Stickers is 100% copied-and-pasted. Magiciandude 10:52, January 15, 2008 (EST)

Thanks for the notice. It looks like the same guy who copied that page copied a number of other pages over, so I've gotten in touch with Wikia's copyright agent and let them know. --Kirby King 12:33, January 15, 2008 (EST)

Just want to let you know that they're still at it.

Magiciandude 21:51, February 18, 2008 (EST)

[edit] Trophy Pages

I have 285 of the trophies, so I can do the missing trophy pages if you want all of them done. But I don't have a reliable way to take good pictures, so is there a way to get them without copying from other sites, or is it ok, since they are all pictures of the same thing anyway? --T3h n00b 20:34, January 22, 2008 (EST)

Having information on all the trophies would be helpful. I wouldn't worry about the pictures if you can't take them yourself; I'd avoid taking them from other places, though. --Kirby King 21:44, January 22, 2008 (EST)

Ok thanks. I know I should put the description and appearance from the game, should there be anything else in the pages? --T3h n00b 23:11, January 22, 2008 (EST)

[edit] E-mail address changes

Hey, there's a user (User:Lavaris) who has been trying to change the e-mail address associated with his SmashWiki account. It seems that changing it at SWF doesn't translate to the wiki. Any idea on a fix for that? I don't think it's within SysOp jurisdiction (or at least I couldn't find a way to). --RJM Talk 23:38, February 8, 2008 (EST)

Sorry I've been slow about this. I need to get into the database and edit the email address manually, and at the moment that's not a totally feasible thing to do. Once I get the requisite software in place (and other, unrelated things stop sucking so much) I can try to update the email address. --Kirby King 22:56, February 14, 2008 (EST)

[edit] User Name Change

Hi this is SandTiger from SWF. My name was Frankie Fly but i got premium and changed it. The SmashWiki makes me login with my old name. Can you fix this please? SandTiger 20:32, February 11, 2008 (EST)

Your username has been changed. --Kirby King 22:50, February 14, 2008 (EST)

[edit] Article Taken by MarioWiki

Hello, I was recently browsing MarioWiki and I found my version of Wolf Illusion there. Somebody copied the text, and the picture. Heck, they even named the picture the same name. Could you please do something about it? (Lavaris 15:22, February 26, 2008 (EST))

I highly suggest making the case yourself on MarioWiki before running to the administrator of a completely unrelated community who has no immediate jurisdiction over there. --RJM Talk 16:44, February 26, 2008 (EST)

Yeah. The same thing happened with Smashwikia...TWICE! But User:Magiciandude took care of both of the occasions. Hamstermilitary 17:22, February 26, 2008 (EST)

[edit] Welcome to Wikia

Hi Kirby King! Welcome aboard.. drop me a line and let me know how things are going! angies@Wikia (talk) 03:16, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Watchlist

I caught wind that you may be able to recover our watchlists. Such things would be useful to me...what's the word on the street? --Randall00 05:01, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Yup, I pulled them out of the old database. Just let me if you'd prefer me to email your watchlist somewhere, put it on your talk page, etc. You should be able to paste it directly into your raw watchlist (at least, that's what worked for me.) --Kirby King 18:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
The talk page will do fine, thank you. --Randall00 02:06, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Watchlist

Hello, may I have my previous watchlist information? (Lavaris 05:52, 9 April 2008 (UTC))

Sure. Would you prefer I post it to your talk page, email it to some address, etc.? --Kirby King 18:39, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Eh, email?

wolfdonnell@yahoo.com

Please and thank you. (Lavaris 06:36, 11 April 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Name Change?

Hello, I made another account before the Wiki merged, as I was un-aware that my old account would be kept. Is it possible to have a name change from you, if I redirected my userpage to my other account's userpage? Is that possible? (Lavaris 22:11, 14 April 2008 (UTC))

Since we share the same userbase as the rest of Wikia, I can't change your username for you. But I don't see a problem with you putting a redirect on the account you don't want to use and pointing it toward your other account. --Kirby King 22:31, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Hmm... Is there a way that when I sign my signature, when I redirect my userpage, my new account's name will appear, on the signature instead of Lavaris? (Lavaris 20:37, 15 April 2008 (UTC))

I think what you want is to just change your signature? You can do that at Special:Preferences, unless I'm misunderstanding your question. If you choose "raw signature" you can even change the page that your signature links to, so it doesn't have to go through a redirect to get to the proper user page. --Kirby King 20:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)

Can I also replace "Lavaris" with my other account name? I'm sorry for asking so many questions, but you are really, really helpful! ^^; (Lavaris 00:22, 16 April 2008 (UTC))

Yes, change your sig to something like this:
[[User:YOURNAME|YOURNAME]]

Replace "YOURNAME" with your account name and make sure that "raw signature" is checked. This will only affect your signature, though, since things like the edit history will have your actual username on them. I could understand why you'd want to redirect one userpage to another, but why not just edit with your other account instead of with this one? --Kirby King 00:30, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. It worked, please check my talk page if you wish to view it. I got the username in the signature, now all I have to do is redirect my userpage to my other account..I guess. I'm going to copy my userpage and paste it there. Is there anyway to move my contributions to my other account? Or something similar? (Wolf O'Donnell 01:04, 16 April 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Beam Kirby

Not too long ago, I created the page Beam Kirby mostly for the sake of filling up the trophies list for SSBB. However, upon seeing the format used to list Kirby trophies on the main Kirby page, I wish to delete the Beam Kirby page I created. Hopefully you can help with the deletion of that article. Thank you. --Willsun 19:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sysop

I don't know if Sky already talked to you about this, but I wanted to ask about being promoted to sysop. My request can be found here. I have five "strong supports," five "supports," and one neutral leaning towards support. If you wish to give this more time, I will fully understand; I simply wanted to bring my situation to the attention of a bureaucrat. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 19:29, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] So...

Did you start this wiki or something? Kperfekt722 (talk) 14:38, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Kirby King?!

Welcome back! I haven't seen you in a while. How're you? ^^ (Wolf O'Donnell (talk · contributions) 05:46, 17 August 2008 (UTC))

I'm fine, just felt like editing things I noticed today. Haven't really gone anywhere per se, but I do tend to restrict my attention to pages that are on my watchlist (infrequently as I may edit them). --Kirby King 05:49, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Chatting

I understand what you're getting at, but you'll have to tell that to Ike. He's not on at the moment, so leave it on his talk page or something. MarioGalaxy (talk) 18:32, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

No, I really don't think you do. You're having conversations with other people about when you can Brawl with each other, which happens to be the same exact example of a conversation that should not be on a user talk page, as listed in the guideline. In any event, I originally posted about this on Ike's talk page, so consider him told. (Also, you just fragmented this conversation by responding to my message on my own talk page, rather than responding to it on yours, where I had left it. This is also discussed in the guideline, and while you're not under any obligation to follow it in dealing with other users, I certainly prefer keeping conversations in one place.) --Kirby King 18:37, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Very Well

I'll take the warning, if you do me a favor: don't talk down to me in Spanish. You can talk down to me, warn me, etc. in English, just don't do it in Spanish in any form. Oh, one more thing. I'm not trying to anger you in any way about the Brawl FC thing, but if you look at people's user pages, you'll see that they say to leave a message on their Talk Page. Ike and Shade are examples (Ike says to message him on his talk page, while Shade leaves a section for Brawl Challenges. I haven't used that one in a while, so you can blame me for that.). And, with that, I'm done. I'll be on Wikitroid. MarioGalaxy (talk) 20:22, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

You will take the warning because I warned you. I do not see how I "talked down" to you, other than to inform you that it is inappropriate to use insulting language against other users (in this case, sysops whose actions you disagree with), regardless of what language you happen to use. If you're simply not sure why I chose to comment in Spanish, you should consult this Wiktionary entry. --Kirby King 20:28, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm confused. Are you saying Spanish is an insulting language, or don't insult in Spanish? I'm not being sarcastic, that is a serious question. Talk down to me, talk to me, whatever. Just don't talk to me in Spanish in any way. Oh, and it took me a while to reply to this, as I don't watch pages that I have no interest in. I only watch pages of my "Acquaintances", or Friends, if you will. MarioGalaxy (talk) 00:01, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm saying that insulting other users in other languages is no more acceptable than insulting them in English. I said "comprende" because you were using Spanish to insult other users, and I was referencing the fact that I had noticed that. It has nothing to do with Spanish being inherently insulting, or inherently anything. Also, if you read my talk page guidelines, you'd know that I respond to messages left on my talk page on my talk page because it increases the readability of conversations. If you don't have any interest in the messages you post on my talk page or my responses, then feel free to not monitor for responses. --Kirby King 00:09, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Um, I'd like to say three things:
  • You said "on my talk page" twice
  • You sound really negative, even though this is a typed conversation.
  • Conversation, done, at least on my side.
Oh, and about your guidelines, that wasn't my point. I was just saying that it took me a while because, well, read above. You didn't need to respond to that. MarioGalaxy (talk) 00:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Cult of Personality talk page

I've noticed where you've referred to our crew's talk page as our own little message board. As of a few weeks ago, however, that is no longer the case. We now use Proboards as means of communication, and those are all old messages from before we had moved our conversations to there. Just wanted to clear that up. Shade487z (talk) 20:55, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough, thanks for clearing that up. I've now removed the links on the talk page that concerned me. --Kirby King 20:58, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Um...though I hate to say anything that might lead to a dispute, wouldn't make more sense for the links to our Proboards sites to still stay on the page? That way, people could talk with us and it wouldn't flood the recent changes. Not only that, but with so many of our members getting banned, it pretty much is the only means of communication for them. I won't add them back on there without approval, but it just seems like they should've stayed. Shade487z (talk) 21:09, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Why would people be going to your article's talk page to talk to you? I would expect your members to know where your website is, so it shouldn't need to be listed there for them. Since the talk page for your article is for discussing the article, I'm not sure why anyone else would be going there to talk to you. In any event, just as contact information for Smashers doesn't belong in Smasher space (but rather in user space), contact information for crews doesn't belong in article space. --Kirby King 21:21, 17 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah, see, I did not know such information about contacts and whatnot, so thanks for letting me know. But while I do see your point, I didn't exactly say that the talk page itself was for other users to contact us, rather, it was the links on there. Nevertheless, if contact information doesn't really belong there in the first place, then so be it. I swear, sometimes it's scary how little I know XD. Shade487z (talk) 21:36, 17 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I could use your help...

I am just a humble SmashWiki contibutor, but I think that I came up with a workable solution for the current fiasco involving our crew of sysops. I posted it here before a nasty argument ensued. I think it's the only way to get the community to respect its sysops again. I thought maybe if I could get a bureaucrat like yourself on board with the proposition, it might actually have a chance of being used. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on the issue. Miles.oppenheimer (talk) 20:44, 22 August 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bureaucrat

Would you mind making me a bureaucrat on this wiki? Given the fact that people are constantly asking about RfA's, I think we're going to have no choice but to open them back up soon. As you said that you don't want to be the sole arbitrator for this whole thing, I thought I'd volunteer to help out. I'm on here the most of the current sysops and know all of the active contributors. What I'm thinking about doing is starting a Request for Rollback page, and grant rollback rights to select users. After seeing how they handle that tool, they can run for sysop. That way, we can help limit the entrants to the RfA's, get more people on board on vandalism cleanup, and have a better gauge of how user's will handle the administrative tools. If you would rather I do this in a more public space, that is fine, I just figured this would be the best way to start. Thanks. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 23:54, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Let's go the more public space route. I know Charitwo had a forum topic for RfB that seemed to be like it got a pretty tepid response; I think the forums are the wrong place to post this. I like your rollback-before-sysop idea, though, makes sense. --Kirby King 02:16, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
So, should I make a page like "Request for Bureaucrat" or something? Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 02:20, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Seems logical. Maybe model it on RfA (the multiple-people-can-run part, not the omg-how-do-we-do-this-consensus-wtf-nominations-closed part). --Kirby King 02:44, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
Do we even have any active Rollback people anymore? Oh, and FIXED (people may have taken that the wrong way). Cheezperson (talk) 02:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
OK, answered my own question, there aren't any, as of now. Cheezperson (talk) 03:11, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
I would disagree with the assertion that you're on the most, but it's a minor issue I have with the request. However, as Charitwo similarly has asked to become a bureaucrat having gone public with the request, it might be a good idea to judge the waters for yourself also.
As for SmashWiki:requests for rollback, I find it an excellent idea. --Sky (t · c · w) 03:24, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Just FYI, I went ahead and made the page for this. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 20:10, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rollbacks

Speaking of rollbacks, since your the only beauracrat on this wiki (that i know of), can you promote me to that status? KP317 (talk) 17:41, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

(Since you didn't indent your comment, and it really didn't have anything to do with the previous section, I've put this in a new section.) Let's wait for Requests for Rollback to be dealt with first, since it sounds like people support that idea. (Granted, that's just from the people who have decided to comment on it on my talk page, so take that for what it's worth.) --Kirby King 20:13, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
i really dont like identing my comment, it messes with my f'd up computer and i must slide the bar to the left every time there is a ":". so anyways, its not like you can't revoke my rollback policy ya know. KP317 (talk) 00:00, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Some help?

Hi there, I was just wondering: why do people get all exicted when their user talk pages get an archive? thank you for the help, Baltro (talk) 21:59, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Having never archived my talk page, I guess I can't really answer that myself. Best to ask someone who has expressed excitement after archiving their talk page. --Kirby King 22:04, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
I think its because that means they get talked to a lot. I guess I'd be excited if I was talked to so much, that I had to get an archive."SmoreKing-Bow down to the king.~Now what have you done? 22:07, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Requests For Rollback

You want me to just go ahead and make the page? I know how. KP317 (talk) 22:48, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd say give it a little bit. I'll have more time to look at this kind of thing later this week. Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 22:52, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
 :( fine. KP317 (talk) 22:57, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Merging

How does one do that? Cheezperson (talk) 00:14, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

i think only sysops can do it? (it think...) KP317 (talk) 00:40, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

That suxs (if your right). I think that regular users should be able to merge now, especially with rollbackers entering the editing fray. Cheezperson (talk) 05:23, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
A history merge must be made by an administrator. However, merging of information can be done by any editor. --Sky (t · c · w) 05:50, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
OK, so how do you do that? Cheezperson (talk) 23:33, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Main Page

Whats wrong with adding sections on the main page that aren't encylopediac or wateva? Other wikia's do it on their main page (like Final Fantasy wiki), so why can't we do it here?? I thought that the SSB wikia is a site that ANYONE can edit. Besides, I really think that this is a good idea. I mean, this site is a fanbase site right??? Squallinoa 08 (talk) 01:08, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

The problem with adding sections that aren't encyclopedic is that SmashWiki is an encyclopedia. It really doesn't matter what other Wikia sites do; the mere fact that "they do" doesn't mean that we should. (To counter your example, Wikipedia doesn't have any of that stuff, and they're much larger than any Wikia wiki. That alone isn't a valid reason to not have any of that stuff, but it's at least as valid as pointing out that other sites do.) As to your other points: yes, most anyone can edit SmashWiki, but that's not to say anyone can add/change whatever they like; there are rules, policies, and conventions that have been established and need to be followed as well. And no, I wouldn't call this a fan site (if that's anything like a "fanbase site"); if you want a fan site, go to Smash Boards. --Kirby King 01:15, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Well I agree, but if that's the case, then why you agree to have the polls appear on the main page. If they can put the polls on the main page then I should put the Smash Arena on the main page too. I follow the rules of the wiki, but I ask one of the Admin if it's ok to create such a page. He/she agreed and I created, just for the fans. I know this isn't a fan site, but still I think it's a good idea! Squallinoa 08 (talk) 01:20, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't think we should have polls on the page, period. Moreover, since you basically posted another poll, it's doubly pointless to have two of them. Lastly, just because an admin said it was okay doesn't make it so, because admins don't have the final say over what goes on the Main Page. (You may object, then, to my removing your poll from the Main Page, since I'm an admin; however, any user could do exactly what I did, and since I never said it was an administrative action, I removed it as a user.) If you'd like to discuss the issue further, then, since it's really not an issue between you and me, I suggest you pick up the discussion on the Main Page talk page, where I originally posted. --Kirby King 01:27, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok first of all, I didn't created the polls, and secondly, why won't you let the polls be? I mean the person who created it worked hard on it and wants to see what others think about a certain topic about the game. (lets continue this discussion on the main page) Squallinoa 08 (talk) 01:32, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, here's a Smash Bros. "Fanon" Wiki. Some User named Slippy the Penguin gave me the link to this website for some reason. I don't even know him. MarioGalaxy {talk} 01:21, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Polls on the main page

Do you want to go ahead and get rid of them? I thought they were a bad idea from the get go, and you seem not to like them either. I've been having to moderate them because they've been nothing but trolls if I haven't stepped in... Clarinet Hawk (talk · contributions) 15:00, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

You're more than welcome to if you want; I'd support it. I objected to Cafinator running a "poll" on the talk page to determine if we should have a poll, but I really didn't care enough about it to waste my energy arguing with the kid. --Kirby King 16:04, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Apology

So could we start over again? I really want this whole incident off my chest. If so, could I put the smash arena info on the main page? If not, thats ok. Squallinoa 08 (talk) 22:45, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

Again, this isn't a decision that will be made by a single admin. If you want to add it, you should be looking to get consensus to add it. Even if I changed my mind and supported adding it, other people could still have it removed if there's no consensus to have it. (As far as starting over, again, consider your apology unnecessary but, if it makes you feel better, accepted.) --Kirby King 22:59, 7 October 2008 (UTC)
So who do I exactly talk to?? Squallinoa 08 (talk) 23:06, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] B-Crating

I would simply suggest that you pay attention to and promote appropriately based on SmashWiki:Requests for bureaucratship. Thanks. {My name is Miles, and I approve this message.} 19:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

My sincerest apologies; I've promoted him. May my own personal lack of attention, free time, and interest never again plague your or your fellow SmashWiki denizens. Truly yours, --Kirby King 20:30, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Search engine optimization

Hey Kirby King. I wanted to give you a heads up on the edit I just made to MediaWiki:Pagetitle, the file that controls the text displayed in the browser's title bar. We're taking a more aggressive approach to search engine optimization. I've been assigned with dropping by the top 50 gaming wikis to edit that file in order to maximize traffic from search engines. Feel free to replace and/or add words as you see fit, but leave 'Super Smash Bros Wiki' at the far left since that's the most important thing. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to shoot me a message. JoePlay (talk) 02:05, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] (untitled section)

Ive marked an anon account for delete, could you delete it? Alex25 (talk)

Per my talk page guidelines, see: Administrators' noticeboard. --Kirby King 02:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Rollback powers

I think that with the status of rollback should come the ability to block IPs, but not logged-in users. As a rollback'r, it would be much easier to block a repeat offender IP after one or two incidents than repeatedly rollback their edits a dozen times before an admin shows up. What would you say to this proposal? {My name is Miles, and I approve this message.} 02:39, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

What I say doesn't matter, since only sysops can block people and that's the Wikia Way™. I'd probably oppose it anyway though; sysops already have enough trouble fun arguing about how long blocks should last as it is. --Kirby King 02:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] activity

How often do you plan on contributing and logging on to IRC, now that you're not the only bureaucrat? --Shadowcrest 15:18, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Not often. One reason is that I'm too busy with other things. Another reason is that I'm sick of all the (let's call it) wikidrama around here, and the abuse of what should be an encyclopedia as a general-purpose community/networking site. I can't change it because everyone else in the world has to have their say, so I think it's just in my interest to give up. I might bother formally resigning, but (a) I might at some point change my mind/become less preoccupied, (b) I'm in good company, and (c) historically, it doesn't do much good asking to be removed anyway. (The reason I stopped idling in the IRC channel was, frankly, I got sick of seeing Cafinator's immature fits in the channel while I was away. I've simply got better things to do with my time than deal with that.) --Kirby King 16:51, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Strike point (c), I guess, I just noticed Charitwo quit. --Kirby King 16:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Alternatively, we could block Cafinator from IRC?... --Sky (t · c · w) 17:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] ...huh?

idk what you mean either... KP317 (talk) 05:32, 24 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] wikia-smashbros IRC chat

Could you transfer the +f and +F flags to me, since you're rarely on anymore? /cs help flags if you can't figure it out, I think. --Sky (t · c · w) 03:36, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] User:Zixor- Abbreviations

I agree that simply "Melee" is far better than "SSBM". Why were these abbreviations chosen to be standard? Zixor (talk) 10:39, 2 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Inactive admin

We put it there so people with admin-only jobs would overlook you when looking for help. If you're active, go ahead and remove it. GutripperSpeak

If they're going to look to me for help, they'll have to come to my talk page, and they'll read that admin-only jobs should go to the noticeboard. And they'll only even come to me if they already know I'm an admin in the first place; last I checked SmashWiki:Administrators lists me as inactive. --Kirby King 17:26, 2 February 2009 (UTC)
