Hello, since no one posted on my talk page, I thought I'd at least start up a page so no one else had to make a new page. So anyways, I want to know what everyone enjoys in a custom stage, (traps, mazes, rooms; etc) because I was hoping that knowing this could help me create a great stage. Please, it's really lonely. - Mazes, while providing some interesting strategy, usually don't work due to difficult KOs. In general, let me just note a few things:
- Characters will not spawn on moving platforms, springs, or spikes but they will however spawn on drop blocks and conveyors.
- Certain items will roll down slopes faster/further than others. Pokeballs bounce quite a ways, while rolling crates are hard to stop, and won't break on a bounce.
- In addition, sloped passthroughs add strategy: projectiles only move through one way, and characters will automatically follow a ramp.
- Only standard blocks can be grabbed/tethered. Not ice blocks, slopes, or drop blocks. Be careful not to give tether-dependent characters a disadvantage, unless it is your intention. Also you can't grab on blocks unless they are at least two units above another platform.
- Certain Final Smashes, such as End of Day, result in an SD if there is no floors in the center of the stage.
- Drop blocks can only be passed one way, and reappear after some time. You can use them as temporary spawn points if you wish to force players into a certain area.
- Spring size affects bounce height, but color does not. Also items can spawn on them, but will be rather difficult to grab. They also make an alternate way of recovery, or could interfere with the match, depending on placement.
- Ladders allow fast movement, and can be jumped off of, but you can't attack while on them. However, multiple characters can overlap on the same ladder. They can be useful for extra height without platforms.
- When designing a stage, be sure to have an idea how hard you want KOs to be. If you want long, drawn-out matches, place a smaller stage in the middle of a L set. If you want lots of KOs, put platforms near the edges.
- Spikes don't do to much damage, but make incentive to stay in the main areas. Just beware the CPUs are very easy to get trapped, especially if there's low ceilings. Also, spikes are a non-lethal form of punishment: they return your up special move and act as a sort of platform while still dealing a bit of damage and disruption.
- Be sure to test out the moving platforms before finishing. It takes careful timing sometimes to make them sync up in certain patterns, and you may need to reverse their directions. Remember that the horizontal ones move just below a normal block height, so you can put spikes or other obstacles to push people off.
- Most of the level-specific pieces look nice, but are very limited. Usually they require at least one unit of empty space on each side. It may be hard to work them in when normal pieces can do the same thing.
- Never use many smaller blocks when you can use few bigger ones. Remember that it takes less "space" to use one 3x3 block than 9 1x1 blocks.
- The centered passthrough platform, conveyor belts, and springs occupy approximately the same "standing" height. Springs may look taller, but items will stand where the lowest point is. Some characters have moves that will treat springs and spikes like normal platforms without side effects.
- The size of the conveyor belt also affects the speed.
- Ice blocks can disrupt, but also allow for interesting pseudo-wavedashing style play.
- Sorry if I got a bit carried away there. Hope this helps. - Gargomon251 21:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Incredible! Thanks a LOT! And don't worry you didn't, but I sometimes get carried away, but I never even KNEW some of these things, THANKS a WHOLE LOT... Umm hey, do you have wii-fi, because if you do, I can send you some maps. O yea, I am making a new map that drops you into a large room, and I figgured out a way to sort some items,(let us assume we have a verticle tunnel, and a/some centered passthrough platform(s) is/are the length of the space beween the walls of the tunnel) those centered passthrough platforms can be used to let small items through because compared to a grid level passthrough block, (regular blocks fill up one grid area, and the X axis is even to the top of said block) it is shorter, so the gaps on the left and right side allow small items, and hold containers. Now, imigine a larger space between the tunnels, and the items come in on one side, and the moving containers can move on so they can move onto a ramp, well, now you can have two rooms for items. - I suppose, but bear in mind snapshots take priotity, being over half my daily quota for points, and I have more than 8 friends already so I will have to decide on priorities for others.
- Wii Code: 5114 9201 8713 7788
- Brawl Code: 2578-2771-7231
- Actually, maybe I should put those on my userpage too, before I forget. - Gargomon251 00:36, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
Ok Gargom, I added you in both Brawl, And my Address book. Ok, Now you just have to add me. Ok? ^_^ Learner4
- LOL I added you days ago ;3 - Gargomon251 00:29, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
I added you to my friends roster, but it says that I am not added to yours. I'll try to reset the Wii to see if that helps, and by reset, I mean I'm going to the Wii menu and back to the game. That works well. Learner4 18:01, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
- I compared both our FCs on the smashwiki to the ones on the Wii Message Board messages and they are the same, so they should be accurate. I'm gonna be doing some cleaning but later on I'll see if it's working yet. If not by tomorrow, I'll just delete it and try it again. The Wii Codes I know for sure work since I am getting messages from you. - Gargomon251 22:00, 27 April 2008 (UTC)
We have to make sure our Friend Code are correct. Learner4 20:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Are your codes correct, I tried to add them, but It didn't work. Learner4 (talk) 12:01, 13 June 2008 (UTC)
You really need to simplify your taunts. They're needlessly condensed and...well...lame, for lack of a better word. You spelled "piƱata" wrong, and whatever that "ILaughWhenYouGoBoom" or whatever it was just seemed dull and drawn out. And what's with the character-dependant nicknames? Why even used a name like "Mario" or "Ice C" or whatever? I also laugh when you have the wrong name. Were you the one that had items set for nothing but Gooey Bombs, Starmen, Freezies, and Mr. Saturns?- Gargomon251 (talk) 05:03, 24 June 2008 (UTC)
I have trouble thinking of comments, and I of course can't use other people's comments. I'll have to change them. I use character depedent nicknames because I do better for some reason, (I use them even when I can't see the nicknames) but I do find it annoying when I forgot to change the nickname. And no, I always have the smashball set, and I always have the Assist Trophy and pokeball on. Learner4 (talk) 19:56, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry if that saddens you. I'll definitely add you to my friends list btw, so take my FC from my userpage. I have some neat custom stages you might like. Oh, and why no smasherbeta table on your page? It's easy to make once you get the template. Cheezperson (talk) 20:06, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, and thanks for the lolz on the pic, I like making people laugh. Cheezperson (talk) 20:08, 27 July 2008 (UTC)

Yo, Learner. I think the current method of balloon loss, like Kirby loses a hat, was sufficient. Also, did you like being the up tilt? {My name is Miles, and I approve this message.} 02:12, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
Yea. I got the idea for balloon loss from Bloons Defence, and the Kirby Hat loss. I might have another idea, some balloons could be more resistant to popping sometimes, or they could be more likely to popping. You know sometimes Kirby's hat just stays on no matter how hard you try to get rid of it? Well what if it were for balloons? It could even be that rarely, he might get a mega balloon (has some more air), or he might get a lead balloon. I don't have much faith on him on getting these, but still? King Dedede gets Gordoes. Peach gets items, why not him? Learner4 (talk) 20:41, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

Ok, well it is a good idea. Say it would be cool if we did get those characters. I especially like the balloon fighter. Learner4 (talk) 21:14, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
