[edit] Copyvio template
Good thinking on the template for copyright violations, and good catch on the Fox article. Only thing is it looks like the hand image you're using is from Wikipedia and (based on the license) not usable here? --Kirby King 03:10, July 30, 2006 (GMT)
- Why isn't it valid, exactly? It's licensed under GNU FDL, which gives us permission to use and modify it freely. Let me know if I'm missing something. --nealdt 03:11, July 30, 2006 (GMT)
- You're right about it being GFDL (or alternatively, CC) but GFDL requires that any derivative works also be GFDL. It's a bit of a gray area as to whether merely including that image on a page is a violation (I don't specialize in copyright law) but it's something I'd rather avoid, especially on a copyvio template (and the ambiguity is kind of why I think we should avoid anything that isn't public domain). At minimum though you'd need to identify the license it's under. --Kirby King 03:21, July 30, 2006 (GMT)
- Ok, so I wasn't aware that this wiki's content belongs to Smash World. You need to make that 100% clear from the get-go (currently it's buried under SmashWiki:Copyrights), because people will come here assuming that this wiki, like 99% of all others, is a GFDL-based (or similar) project. I'd also like to strongly lobby you and the other admins to consider adopting a free license. --nealdt 03:26, July 30, 2006 (GMT)
- I kind of consider the current terms to mimic to some extent the "rights" we have to publish content on SWF, save the fact that we're retaining all submissions in the history and logistically can't let people "take back" their submissions after they've been ruthlessly edited. I think a CC license might work, but until we choose one that we _definitely_ are going to use, I decided to give us more flexibility to choose something else to change to. Ultimately we need to be more careful with what sources we use, because I don't want to tell people they can use this content for other things if it turns out the person who wrote it never gave permission for us to use it. --Kirby King 04:16, July 30, 2006 (GMT)

[edit] sprite comics
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but Sonic For Brawl Comics was created again. what is this, the third time? IMO that's more than enough warnings, ban the kid already. FyreNWater - (Talk • Contributions ) 13:09, September 28, 2007 (EDT)
[edit] not to be a bother again...
...but Pyroloserkid has repeatedly vandalized[1] Sariku.uchiha's page. also, he hasn't made any positive edits. i believe he deserves to be banned.
on a related note, how do i go about becoming a sysop? i spend a lot of time fixing up articles anyway. it would be less of a hassle to have to ask someone else to delete junk articles or ban abusers. FyreNWater - (Talk • Contributions ) 02:16, October 6, 2007 (EDT)
[edit] Sorry to bother but,
User:Hippochinfat is continually vandalizing the Mew2King page. This has happened twice now and if it continues, i'll post here again to let you know. I've given him a warning already, so hopefully it doesn't continue. Just to let you know. :/ --Janitor 17:16, October 20, 2007 (EDT)
