As for my first question, you mention an anti-vandal tool. What is that and how can I get one?


Second, I saw your thing about cleaning Gamecube controllers. Well, I have a third party controler that I have been experimenting with modifications on. All has been well and good, except after I put it back together, I have had to press down much harder than is natural to get the Y button to work. I have tried to lengthen the contact so that it touches easier, but as yet have not found a reliable way to do this. Do you have any suggestions?

You're welcome. You should be a sysop.

The Anti-Vandal tool is a script I copied from Wikipedia. I can gladly give you the code.. Features:

  • Filter Recent Changes (but the badword list is empty)
  • All Recent Changes
  • Recent IP Edits
  • Moniter My Watchlist
  • Live Spellcheck

As for the controller problem, have you tried examining it again? If so, and if you can't find a reasonable solution, maybe the problem is dirt or debris around the button, or something could be causing it to be stuck. This may help.

I would suggest not keeping galleries. The images are fair use to begin with, and I don't think they add a lot to the pages. And they clutter the image namespace.

The point of a merge is not that the information is merged as much as the page history is. When it's a short page, like the lottery, it's OK to redirect. But when there is more information, such as Gray Fox, leave it so that we can merge the page histories. However, thank you for helping out with this. I know that we've all been keeping up with the enjoyable soap opera that has been the Smash Wiki for the last week or so. I am putting this message out to tell you that it is OVER. I don't want to see anyone banned, but things have been out of hand for a while now. This wiki is about Smash Bros. To that end, for the next few days, the only posts I want to see out of everyone for the next few days are posts about Smash Bros. Also, just so that we're clear, if I see the name "Mandy" (yes, I know that is your code word), you will get a short vacation. Again, I don't want to see anyone banned, but we are working to take this wiki in a new direction and, at least for the time being, want to minimize any distractions. All of you have the ability to contribute valuable content to this wiki when you're not fighting with other users. It is time for all of us to make a choice: we can either continue the petty squabbles and watch this wiki stay where it is, or we can all work together and make this wiki what it should be. I believe I have the final verdict regarding who voiced Wolf in Brawl. It is, as I stated before, Jay Ward. I know most of us don't watch the end credits but I found a few videos of the ending credits for Adventure Mode. Grant Goodeve was not listed in the voice credits but Jay Ward was. Proof here. First of all, thanks for warning those idiots. I've got my eye on them if they try anything again. Second, when you use the template, go ahead and include the article that was vandalized and a comment about what was done, as well as you signature. For example, the warning you gave earlier should be done as {{subst:warning|Smasher:Fang|Stop removing content from pages|~~~~}}. That way, people know exactly why they've been warned, and people are more likely to respond when the warning seems at least somewhat human.

On a related note, I'm going to be out of town this weekend, so you probably want to tell Rita about any vandals you encounter, as she'll be able to respond faster.

When I asked Clarinet Hawk who the prominent non-sysops are, I got your name- so here I am. I'm planning on trying to implement a bunch of policies that I think would improve the wiki. It would be greatly appreciated if you would point out any issues you have with any of the things listed on that page, and whether or not you think any or all of them should be implemented, and if not, why not.

Of course, I realize you have a life and other things to attend to- I don't expect this to be completed overnight ;)

If you feel inclined to do so, whenever you get the chance, it would be great if you would comment on them.

If you wouldn't have a problem with them being implemented, just say so somewhere. I guess it would be impractical for you to say so on all the pages, so either here or here, if forums are more Smashwiki's style. We hardly used forums on GuildWiki, I'm rather unfamiliar with them.
