Vertical spacing
From SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki
Vertical Spacing is an advanced technique used by Marth in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It was coined by SHOK. To perform it, Marth must short hop a Footstool Jump (fhop) and immediately perform a Dair. He must also be facing the same direction that his opponent is facing. This will allow the tip of his sword to hit. If performed correctly, the opponent will not have any chance of recovering even at a very low percentage.
Some characters are difficult or impossible to connect the dair to after the fhop - they drop too fast. The characters that it is impossible to perform on are Fox and Wario. It works best on small, light characters like Kirby, Meta Knight and Jigglypuff, but even Bowser is easy to connect with.
After Testing, It has been confirmed that the combo can be used on certain characters like Link or Toon Link during their up-B. It has also been confirmed that Marth is not the only one that is able to perform this technique. Toon Link is able to Meteor Smash with this technique, although his does not blend fluently like Marth's. It is about stunning the opponent to set up for the spike frames at the beginning of Toon Link's Dair.
Meta Knight is also able to footstool Dair, but instead of spiking the opponent is semispiked away; in most situations, the victims are either sent into the stage and stagespiked or sent away from it, hastening their demise.
