Walking is a form of ground-based movement slower than dashing. It is performed by pressing forward on the control stick while on the ground. While it is slower than dashing, characters retain the use of their tilts and smashes while walking, giving the technique some use. Most character can walk at three different speeds. Hitting the A button while walking will result in a forward tilt. Because of all that, it can be considered an advantage to have a fast walking speed. This is especially true with Pikachu and Charizard who are both matched in running speed, yet Pikachu walks much faster than Charizard can.
